Recently, Hunan Ewei New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Ewell New Energy") graphene lithium battery project and Loudi High-tech Zone officially signed a cooperation agreement. The total investment of the project is 6.2 billion Yuan, which is divided into three phases. The first phase of investment is 200 million Yuan, and the construction started in November 2017. At present, the pilot production line of the automated production line and R&D center is being installed. The equipment is installed and commissioned in June and is scheduled to be put into production at the end of September.

It is understood that Ewei New Energy was established on June 13, 2017 with a registered capital of 50 million. It mainly operates lithium batteries, fuel cells, energy storage batteries, super capacitors, battery management systems and rechargeable battery packs, wind power and photovoltaic storage. Energy systems, electric vehicles, etc., provide solutions for ternary materials, lithium iron phosphate, high temperature lithium manganate, lithium titanate and other chemical system products. In addition, Ewell New Energy also focuses on the research of battery gradient utilization and material recovery life-time value management services.

Ewei New Energy said that after the first phase of the graphene lithium battery project is completed and put into production, it is expected to produce high-end digital and energy storage batteries with an annual output of 1-150 million Ah, with an output value of 500-700 million Yuan. When the third phase of the construction is completed, Ewei New Energy will produce 12GWh of energy storage and power batteries annually, with an annual sales income of 26 billion Yuan.

In the field of batteries, graphene is mainly used as an auxiliary material (additive) in battery materials, one is directly used as a positive/negative material; the other is used as a conductive additive, added to the positive/negative electrode material, or composited to the electrode material. Modification treatment, improve electrode conductivity and charge and discharge rate; third, as a current collector or current collector coating, used to improve battery power characteristics. Graphene is mainly used in lithium ion batteries in the latter two ways.

Zhongfan Liu, president of Beijing Graphene Research Institute, told Gaogong Lithium Battery. "The most attempted graphene in China is to add conductive additives to lithium-ion batteries. The conductivity of graphene is good. Putting it in will increase the conductivity of the battery to some extent, reducing the internal resistance and the performance of the battery will be improved."
