Can zinc carbon battery be recharged 

Don’t recharge your zinc carbon battery, it could be dangerous. Zinc carbon battery belongs to disposable battery, it can not be recycled through charging. The design concept of zinc carbon battery has not considered that the battery needs to be charged. If you try to recharge it, it may cause the risk of battery leakage or even explosion.

In fact, zinc carbon battery can be charged by special methods by theory, but this kind of charging is very limited. You can recover part of the charge for the zinc carbon battery through a special charger with protection device. It should be noted that only part of the charge can be recovered. ·The energy density of carbon zinc battery is higher than that of its predecessor. The discharge efficiency and capacitance of the carbon zinc battery are higher than those of its previous generation, which means that its use will be more efficient and lasting. But this advantage for modern batteries, is like shooting fish in a barrel.

Compared with the modern popular lithium battery, zinc carbon battery also has many limitations:

·The energy density of lithium battery is much higher than that of zinc carbon battery, and the discharge performance of lithium battery is much better than that of zinc carbon battery. The average voltage of normal lithium battery is 3.7V, while that of zinc carbon battery is only about 1.5V. It can be said that zinc carbon battery can not compare with modern lithium battery in discharge efficiency and in capacity.

·Zinc carbon batteries are not rechargeable, while lithium batteries can be recharged and reused after full discharge. The cycle life of lithium battery can reach 1000 times, which means that the total effect of a lithium battery may exceed 1000 zinc carbon batteries. In contrast, the price advantage of zinc carbon battery does not seem to bring it the same performance price ratio as rechargeable lithium battery.

·The safety of zinc carbon battery is poor. This is mainly reflected in its poor oxidation resistance, low leakage resistance and easy wear of negative electrode. Because the negative electrode of zinc carbon battery is zinc metal, and these zinc metals also act as the shell of negative electrode, they are easy to be corroded by oxygen, and they are easy to be worn in daily use, which will affect the capacitance of the battery.
