However, there a few things that you should always keep in mind while charging or discharging the 18650 voltage battery.

" Always remember to charge your battery when it reaches 3 volts. Never let it go down to 2 volts to ensure a healthy battery.

" Always use the specified charger for a 18650 voltage battery.

" Never charge your battery in below freezing temperature. Also, temperature control is very important. Keep checking your battery if it is hot or cold. If your battery is getting too fast too quick, then there are 100 percent charges that your battery is getting over-stressed.

" Never overcharge your battery. It is better to undercharge your battery than to over-charge it. Consider charging your battery to 4 volts rather than 4.2 volts so that your battery remains healthy.

" Know what is partial charge and discharge. Consider only discharging your battery to let's say 3.2 volts rather than 3 volts. This reduces the stress on your battery and keeps it in a top-notch condition.

Can you charge 18650 battery in a normal charger?

Charging 18650 battery can be a risky business at times. You need to ensure that you are charging the battery at proper voltage and are not taking any risks. Also, charge one cell at a time out of your pack because parallel charging can and will cause damage to your battery. Resulting in unhealthy battery life and lower charge cycles.

Before buying the battery, read up on the manufacturer from where you are getting the battery. He could provide you useful insights on the charging and other information. You need a maximum of 4.2 volts while charging the battery. Or you could use 4 volts just to remain on the safe side. Keep inside this bracket until the company says otherwise. Thumb rule is to set the current to a half of the capacity of the cell. Let's says your battery provides a current of 3400mAP. Keep the charging current to (3400/2) = 1400mAh. How do you protect the voltage of 18650 battery?

Firstly, if you are short on cash then you just buy a normal battery rather than the 18650 voltage battery as the protected batteries will be very heavy on the pocket. But if you still want to go for the 18650 voltage battery in a budget, get an unprotected battery and follow these simple steps to protect them yourself.

" Get a multimeter, soldering iron, wire cutter, an old phone battery and some extra wires in one place.

" Very carefully open up the circuit and figure out the positive and negative terminals. Practice extreme caution in this step as it might cause a short circuit. After you are done, solder the circuit to the battery.

" Prepare four equal length copper wires.

" Solder together the battery and the circuit with the help of wires and soldering iron.

" Now, check the voltage with the help of a multi-mete. If it shows the correct voltage, then your battery is protected.
