Battery is a part of our lives. Although there are some objects that can be charged, there are still some objects that need to have batteries to work. Some of them are things such as remote TVs, radio, cars, and many more. However, we should remember that each battery has different functions that are suitable for different objects. For this reason, it’s best for us to know more about the specific battery and its charger. In this case, we will be talking about lifepo4 battery .in this article, we will talk all about lifepo4 batteries’ charger, starting from its cost, charger, and charging hour. We hope this article can help you understand lifepo4 batteries better.

How much is a Lifepo4 battery charger?

Lithium Iron Phospate (lifepo4) batteries are batteries that are commonly used by many people. It’s not a surprise though, considering how the battery can survive for a long time. For a regular battery, lifepo4 batteries are impressive because they can be charged up to 2000 times. So when you use a lifepo4 batteries, you will definitely stay with the battery for a while.

However, the battery’s longevity is not without a cause. Lifepo4 batteries are pretty pricey compared to other battery cells. The expensive price it has is due to the self-balanced system. The system gives better battery management that is more convenient for many people. You don’t need to worry about overcharging either, since the battery won’t be damaged as fast as other batteries when they are overcharged. Still, it does not mean that you can overcharge just like that.

If you live in a hot environment, then you’re in luck. Lifepo4 cells have the privilege of withstanding hot temperature, so you’ll have no problem if the battery reaches 60 degrees celsius since the battery can withstand it.

Seeing how pretty awesome the battery is, some of us might wonder how much the price of the battery and its charger is. The price of the battery depends on its size and the volt, some can go as far as hundreds of dollars while some can be as little as twenty dollar-ish. It depends on the battery type you need.

As for the charger, there’s no need to worry because the chargers are also the same. You can find one for thirteen dollars, but you can also find one for ninety-eight dollars. Again, it depends on the battery you’re going to use.

Can you charge a Lifepo4 battery with a normal charger?

As it can be seen, the lifepo4 battery has several properties that are unique compared to other batteries. Since it has a unique property, many wil assume that you can only charge it with unique chargers. Thankfully, that is not the case. Yes, you can charge a lifepo4 battery with a normal charger. However, there are some things you should take note of when you do that.

The first thing you should do when you use normal chargers is to check the type of the charger. First, you must make sure that you can set the voltage of the charger, if possible to the max. You must also ensure that the charger will not change the properties of the battery when the charging happens. If you’re planning to use a battery that has automatic equalization mode, make sure that the mode is off. The mode can actually change the battery’s properties at times,

The second thing you must note is the process of charging. When you’re charging your lifepo4 battery, make sure that you have the time to monitor the charging process. This is extremely important since most chargers are manual chargers. So when the battery is full, you must discharge the battery from the charger immediately. So if you don’t have the time to monitor the charging process, it’s best to use chargers specifically used for lifepo4.

How long does it take to charge a Lifepo4 battery?

The charging time for a lifepo4 battery depends on the battery, charger, and other factors. It can be as quick as one hour and as slow as six hours. Despite the time of the charging, there is one thing for sure - that the battery goes through two steps in order to charge properly. Here are the two steps:

Step 1

The first step the battery does when he is charged is to use constant current (cc). The battery uses constant current to reach its 60% to 70% amount of charging. So when the battery is going through its 60% to 70% process, they are using their constant current.

Step 2

Step 2 happens when the battery has a voltage that reaches 3.65V per cell.then the battery reaches such amount of voltage, the battery will convert the constant current to constant voltage. When this happens, the limited current charge will be accepted at that voltage. Also, the current tapers down when this happens, so it will reach the final voltage properly.

If you need an approximate time, here is the time: for stage 1, the time it will need is at least one to two hours. For stage 2, the time it needs is at least two hours. So, the total is around three to four hours.

As it can be seen, it’s not that long to charge a battery. However, it should be noted that you must have the proper charger that is not faulty.

From here, we can see that lifepo4 batteries have many different benefits. It is best for those who live in hot areas, and it can be charged for at least 2000 times. It’s pretty pricey, but that does not mean that you cannot charge it with normal chargers. Normal chargers are pretty inconvenient for busy people though, so it’s best to use chargers specifically meant for lifepo4 batteries. When it’s charged with the proper charger, you can wait for 4 hours at most to have the battery to be fully charged. Then, you can use it for your device! It’s pretty easy, isn’t it?
