The multi-stage battery charger is like the custom battery chargers that customize and adapt themselves to the requirements of the battery for ensuring efficiency in charging and having a higher battery life.

Thus you can ensure the maximum efficiency of your power outage and also ensure that the charging batteries or even the device do not overheat.
As previously mentioned that a multistage battery charger has various charging processes that ensure the battery charging process efficiency.
This ensures that the battery life is durable and long enough while also ensuring neither the charger nor the battery charger overheats thus saving a lot of output power and current as well.

Here we will see the three basic steps that are there in the multi chargers. Any multi-charger would have these three steps involved while charging the battery.
The multi-charger is capable of switching over from the CC-CV mode automatically depending on the needs of the device. It makes use of various microprocessors that have some two to five stages of regulated charging.
With the two-stage multi-charger, you have two stages of bulk and float. Now don’t worry as you might not be knowing these terms as we will explain to you in deep about these terms later within this section only.
Sometimes the multi-charger also has a recovery stage. If you are using highly expensive lead-acid batteries it is the worst possible idea to make use of a constant power supply source to charge the batteries.

You might forget to switch off the power supply source as you are busy with your work. This will eventually lead to the overcharging of the battery and thus the battery gets overheated leading to the depletion of the battery life.
Here are the three stages of the charging process that is commonly used by all the three-staged multi charging devices-
Bulk Stage
This is the stage that contributes to 80% of the battery charging. In this stage of charging a constant current 25% of the aH rating of the device or battery is being used to charge the device.
e.g. in the case of a 100 maH battery 25 amps of current are what you get as the desired output current to charge the batteries.
Although you can increase the output current further by 25% to decrease the charging time for lesser charging time this is not a wise thing to do. Also, it is not specified to increase the output current more than what the battery is capable of.
You should check out the charging instruction in the manual of the battery to ensure the best charging conditions for your expensive lead batteries and also know about the requirements of your battery.
Absorption Stage
This is the stage when the remaining 20% of your battery is being charged. In this stage, the charger is ensuring a constant supply at a low absorption voltage depending on the battery source and the charging options.
The current consumption at this stage is gradually minimized ensuring that the battery slowly reaches the full charged stage.
Float Stage
This is one of the specific stages of a multi-battery charger that you don’t necessarily get with the normal constant voltage supply chargers.
When your battery has been almost fully charged the charger feeds current at almost one percent of the battery output. Thus you can leave out the battery at this stage forever without causing any damage to the battery. The float stage is the stage that prevents overheating and overcharging of the batteries both of which are harmful to your batteries.
of course, you can use one charger to charge multiple batteries. for this, you can set up the batteries in two connections that are in series connection and one in parallel connection.
But make sure that all the batteries being used have the same input and output voltage to ensure that the current flow stays uniform along the circuit and that there is no instance of overheating the external charger circuit or the batteries.
Different batteries depending on the type of their build might also need separate chargers based on the maximum input parameters of voltage and current that they can tolerate.
Well, this is similar to exactly the way you will charge any battery using a charger. Just place the batteries at the correct terminals of the charger and plug the charger into the power socket and turn the switch on. Even the chargers can work in your car as well.
