We use batteries for many of our appliances. Starting from remote TV to cars and even boats, many objects use batteries. seeing the variety of objects that use batteries, it’s no wonder that there are many types of batteries in this world. Here, we will discuss all about standard battery, from its definition to the different types of standard batteries. We will also discuss about their price and their description. Here, you will find all the basic information you need about standard battery.
There is nothing complicated about the standard battery’s definition. It is basically the battery that is commonly used by many people. They usually come at a standard affordable price too so that everybody will be able to buy them.
What makes it complicated, however, is the types of standard battery that is available out there. After all, there are different kinds of objects that use batteries, and the energy they need to use is different. So, there are different kinds of standard batteries out there, and they are different in many aspects. From the energy, volt, size, they are different.
This leads to the second section...
There are mainly three types of batteries that are commonly used by many people. Of course, those three types have many kinds of batteries in it. The three types and their batteries are:
1. Household Batteries
Household batteries are the batteries we commonly use for our household appliances, such as wall clocks and remote TVs. they are small in nature and can be either chargeable or disposable. You can purchase them at most supermarkets at a cheap price, so you don’t need to worry about spending too much money on them.
Some examples of household batteries are:
●Lead Acid Battery (Rechargeable)
Lead acid battery has a square form that can be recharged once the energy is finished. It is also sealed tightly so there won’t be any leakage. However, it should be noted that it can start a fire if it’s damaged or punctured, so it’s best to keep it safe and protected.
Lead acid battery is mostly used for electric vehicles, toys, and equipment. Examples of objects that use lead acid battery are scooters, boats, golf carts, wheelchairs, and many more.
●Lithium-ion Battery (Rechargeable)
Have you ever seen a flat rectangular battery when you open your cellphone? That battery is no other thanrechargable lithium-ion battery. They can be in different kinds of sizes (AA or AAA), but most of them have the same small cylinder. Just like the first battery, it does not spill and can cause a fire if they are punctured.
Besides cellphone, lithium-ion battery is also used for other objects. They are laptops, webcams, wireless tools, electric automobiles, and many more.
Since they are small in nature, it is necessary for its owner to charge it often.
●lithium battery (Non-rechargeable)
A lithium battery is mostly in the form of button cells (the batteries with buttons at each end). Their standard volt is 9 volt and has a small cylinder,
The metals can also be used even after if it’s disposed of. Recyclers usually use HTMR (high temperature metal reclamation) in order to extract the metals after they are done being used.
Due to its small size and small volt, it is mostly used for small to medium objects we usually use such as watches and cameras. Basically, many handheld electronic devices use lithium batteries in order to work properly.
2. Vehicle Batteries
Vehicle batteries are big in nature, as they are used to power up a large car. However, because of its size and energy it contains, you will not have to buy the battery repeatedly as it can last for years. There are different kinds of vehicle batteries you can use. They are:
●Electric Automotive
Electic automotive batteries are usually in the form of li-ion dry cell batteries. They are rechargeable and last for several years. They are mostly used for electric vehicles (full electric) and micro mobility devices. They have a high voltage though, so you should be careful when you are using or recharging it.
●Hybrid Automotive
Hybrid automotive batteries are pretty similar to electric automotive batteries, as they are mostly NiMH and li-ion batteries that can be recharged. The difference is that they are used for hybrid cars, they laso have a high voltage and can cause fire if they are not taken care of properly.
3. Industrial Batteries
Industrial batteries are commonly used for heavier daily objects such as data centers, railroads, or big machines we use every day. They have more volt can be larger compared to household batteries.
●Large Flooded Cell
Large flooded cells are rectangular hard case batteries that are commonly used for utility systems and telecommunication devices. You need to handle it properly, as its content can spill, and it contains lead (lead is toxic in general).
●Nickel Iron
Nickel iron batteries last for a long period of time, making it perfect for transportation systems such as railroads. They are also spillable, but nickel iron batteries contain no toxic chemicals.
Standard battery’s price has a different range, depending on the type of battery you use. Are you using a household battery? Then no need to worry, because its price will not empty your wallet. If you are using an industrial battery, expect the price to be a bit more expensive compared to a household battery (although it gets more expensive if the battery is bigger and bigger). The most expensive battery is the vehicle battery since it will power an entire car. However, they will last for years so you won’t need to keep buying them (assuming there is proper maintenance).
There are many kinds of batteries, depending on its type. Now the question is, which one do you need? Make sure you buy the one suitable for your device and budget. Once everything is set, turn on your device right away and enjoy the energy the battery has given to the device.
