It’s important to check the health of your laptop battery from time to time, right? You are absolutely correct about that. Therefore, how do you know how much power you are getting from your laptop battery?

With a couple of Command Prompt commands, you can see everything about your battery health. This is what you should do for the different versions of Windows;

Windows 7

• Type ‘cmd’ in the search programs & files box after clicking start

• Right click the cmd.exe file and select ‘run as administrator’
  

• Type powercfg –energy within the Command Prompt environment and hit enter
  

• A report called energy-report.html will be generated in the Windows/system 32 directory or folder inside Drive C. Open it and check the battery information section.
  

Windows 8 & 10

• Click start button

• Input ‘cmd’ into the dialog box
  

• Type ‘powercfg/batteryreport and press enter
  

• A report called battery-report.html will be generated in Users/Your_Username_folder within your Drive C.
  

This report usually contains a lot of relevant stats that reflect your battery’s health. However, you should be more focused on the Design Capacity vs. Full Charge Capacity. The Design Capacity happens to be laptop battery’s manufacturer strength, while the Full Charge Capacity talks about the highest charge you are getting at present.

The lower the figure of the battery’s Full Charge Capacity, the lower the power delivery. If your Full Charge Capacity battery is lower than the Design Capacity value, then your battery needs to be replaced immediately.
