C Battery Dimensions-Introduction, Dimension and Comparison

Sep 11, 2021   Pageview:1173

Introduction

The C Battery is a dry cell battery. It is a standard-size battery, which is used in various medium-drain applications. It is available in different applications such as musical instruments, flashlights, toys, etc. The C battery also has the capability to power other tools such as cameras, radios, intruder alarms, walkie-talkies, musical instruments, radios, and more.

In this article, we are going to talk about the C battery and D battery, their dimensions, size as well as their comparison. We will also discuss whether the C battery is the same as the D or not. This is a complete guideline regarding the C battery dimensions.

How Big Is a Size C Battery?

C batteries are a common dry cell battery type. Dry The main goal of dry cells is to operate with the least amount of internal moisture possible, making them suitable for portable electronics.

We can differentiate the types of C batteries according to their voltage and capacity. However, we can also categorize them according to the key materials. They use the type of materials in their construction. Alkaline and Lithium are two types of common materials.

Alkaline C batteries are one of the most commonly utilized types of batteries due to their high energy density and extended shelf life. Majority of common people use them in a variety of ordinary home products. They are different from the rechargeable lithium-ion battery. It is often used in portable electronic devices like smartphones and laptops by their extended life.

The most common dry cell battery sizes are AA and AAA; however, because they are smaller than size C batteries, their lifespan is less. C batteries are a common dry cell battery type. Dry cells were designed with the goal of operating with the least amount of internal moisture possible, making them suitable for portable electronics.

1.5v batteries come in a variety of shapes and sizes, including AA, AAA, AAAA, N, C-cell, and D-cell. Both alkaline and lithium batteries are available in AA and AAA units, which are thicker than AAAA batteries. High-capacity alkaline 1.5v batteries are preferable for powering high-drain gadgets. Thus, C-Cell Batteries is one of the varieties of 1.5v batteries.

What Are the Dimensions of a Sub-C Battery?

Sub-C batteries resemble a miniature counterpart of a standard C battery. They have a diameter of 23mm and a length of 43mm. Manufacturers such as Dewalt, Ryobi, Makita, and Bosch, to mention a few, use both NiMh and NiCd Sub C cells in cordless power tools such as drills.

The Sub-Cell batteries do not have as much power as the c-cell batteries. However, buyers have a varying degree of requirements. There are some tools that require a certain percentage of the power. Otherwise, it may get burned possibly. So, sub-c cell batteries have their unique functions. Though it may not be powerful, it has a great many usages.

Is A C2 Battery the Same As D?

Before comparing the D Batteries and C2 Batteries, let us define what they are.

What Are the D Batteries?

D batteries are a type of ‘dry cell' battery that comes in a standard size. These are the frequently interchangeable models in electrical and household equipment.

The shape of the D batteries is usually squat and sturdy. It comes in a barrel-shaped form. Each battery's positive contact point or terminal. It has a different metal cap form.

In 1898, the D battery was created for the first time. They are currently referred to as R20s after the International Electrotechnical Commission designated them as such. Both normal non-rechargeable and rechargeable D-size batteries are available.

What is the C2 Battery?

C-rates regulate the charge and discharge rates of a battery. A battery's capacity is typically measured in C, which means that a fully charged 1Ah battery should deliver 1A for one hour. The C2 produces sufficient charge for running a gadget for a specific period. So, the C2 Battery produces 2A continuously for 30 minutes period.

Comparison Between the C2 Battery and D Battery

The D-size battery has a higher current output than the C, AA, and AAA size batteries. The power of AA and AAA batteries is same. But there is a difference between the output and overall performance of the two. You can find the same level of difference between the C2 battery and D battery. But is there any difference between C2 Battery and D Battery?

First of all, let us check the size of both batteries:

1.The size of the C2 Battery:

The size of the C2 Battery is approximately 1 x 3.5 x 8.9 cm; 132 Grams.

2.The Size of the D Battery

33.2 mm/1.3 inches is its diameter. However, the length is 61.5 mm/2.42 inches.

Next, we will consider the functions of the batteries so as to determine any similarity or difference between the two.

3.The Performance of the C2 Battery and D Battery

When we consider the performance of both batteries, the D Battery wins the competition. C2 battery can only provide the power for 30 minutes constantly. However, a D battery can power a tool for 36 hours and 30 minutes.

There is a huge difference between the C2 battery and the D battery. D Battery has better performance than the C2 battery. There is also a difference between their size and dimensions. So, C2 battery is not same as the D Battery.

Conclusion

C-cell batteries can have a variety of capacities and voltages, but their physical size stays the same. C-type batteries are compatible with a wide range of devices and accessories, including battery holders.

C-sized batteries are smaller than D-sized batteries. However, they are larger than AA and AAA batteries. The battery has a length of 50 mm (1.97 in) and a diameter of 26.2 mm (1.03 in). A C-size battery's voltage and capacity are determined by the battery's chemistry and discharging circumstances. 1.5V is the nominal voltage.

There is also a difference between the C2 batteries and D batteries to a greater extent.
