No matter the battery is in use or charging, it is allowed to have small heat, but not abnormal heat. When you touch the battery shell with your hand and it feels obviously hot, this indicates that the battery is unusually hot. In this case, we must not ignore, because the battery is very harmful abnormal heat.
Heat will first make the electrolyte water evaporation and gradually dry, then reduce the charging efficiency, plate deformation, increase the internal resistance, mechanical parts oxidation acceleration, burn out the plate or insulation, and finally in the battery capacity reduction, life shortened. Therefore, if you find that the battery is in use or charged under the abnormal heat, do not ignore this condition.
There are two main types of battery heating:
1, is the battery discharge when the heat, that is, the battery in use of abnormal heat;
Second, the battery is hot when charging. Under different circumstances, the cause of abnormal battery heat is also different.
1. Causes of battery discharge and heating: the discharge is too fast, which may be due to the small capacity of the battery and the discharge current exceeding 0.5c for a long time. Here emphasize emphatically: short distance drive, although the battery consumes a certain amount of electricity, but after static, the battery has a recovery process, the electrochemical process of the plate is still continued, so the voltage will rise, but does not mean that the capacity of the rise; On the contrary, long distance driving does not stop the journey, the electrochemical effect of the plate and the consumption of electricity at the same time, there will be three situations:
(1) when the motor rated voltage value is low, the battery capacity is small, the working current bias is large, the voltage will be sharply reduced, the capacity is quickly consumed, the most adverse to the battery.
(2) the electrochemical reaction speed of the battery can only maintain driving, the battery does not have the opportunity to recover and gasp, often do the whole cycle charge and discharge, a little attention will be overconsumption. When encountering windward uphill, the power consumption is very large, which forces the battery plate to react sharply. The high heat of the battery shell will damage the battery and shorten its life, indicating that the capacity is not surplus.
