In the modern day era batteries have created so much ease for us that we can hardly live without them. The world of today is run on electricity and electricity hold much value in these days. Literally every piece of instrument we use has some sort of battery fitted in its mechanism. This is true and I can prove it. Just to give you an example something as simple a watch has battery fitted inside, cars and other automobile vehicles have battery fitted in them. The world is run on batteries nowadays.

Even solar panels store their energy that they received from the sun into batteries that are then later used. Batteries can be remotely used in far off placed where there may be no electricity. This helps the customers a lot, in short the applications of batteries are much more than you and I can comprehend. They are portable and thus can serve so many functions from lighting a simple bulb to powering a whole house.

To understand what batteries are we must understand the terms and complexities of them if we are to buy one. If we know these things about them then they will help us in the longer run because then not only will we know to buy the right one but we will also be able to preserve the battery life.

What is 3C discharge rate?

To understand what is 3C discharge rate we must first analyze the term discharge rate and truly grasp the concept behind it. So what is discharge rate? Discharge rate is the rate at which the power of the battery is at a point beyond which it shall not produce any charge. This is the time taken to discharge any battery to its nil power level. This factor can be used to determine what the quality of the battery is and it also helps in labeling it so that the customers do not have to worry about how long this battery is going to last.

These are important parameter that customers and large companies when buying batteries should look into. This is because not only does it help both of the parties it will also help in making a much more solid decision. Therefore to make the best of both sides these are things that must be taken into consideration very carefully. The discharge rate can determine the battery life of any battery and therefore what the quality of this battery is.

Now on to the next part of the discussion – now that you have understood what is meant by discharge you can understand what 3C discharge will mean. So first of all you must understand what is meant by C-discharge. A C-discharge is the unit that is used as a standard to tell what amount of current i.e. how many amperes will the battery be discharging in how much of a duration. For example a battery that is 1C will discharge a current of one ampere after being charged for one hour with a current supplied of one ampere. Similarly a battery that is C means that it will discharge 500mAh. So that is what C-discharge means and now you have a foundation of what you are learning.

Now onto the more specific question what exactly is a 3C battery? A 3C battery is a type of battery that can make a charge of 3Ah for 30 minutes after being charged with a current of 3Ah for 30 minutes. This is known as a 3C discharge battery. These batteries are much more efficient as compared to the previous 1C and 2C batteries because they discharge much less current that may be needed and therefore that takes a longer time as compared to the others to actually charge any other device or to power up different places.

There are other batteries as well such as 4C batteries. These are the type of batteries that discharge 4Ah instead of the 3Ah current. This can be more beneficial for customers because it will take lesser time to charge and can provide a much higher level and quality of power to give power to other devices that the customers may attach to it.

How fast do batteries discharge?

The discharge rate of different batteries is different. There are several batteries which have discharges rates of much higher tendencies and have proven to be better quality. There is however other batteries as well that provides a much less power and much less quality. This can all be judged with the help of the value of C-discharge of the battery. Some batteries have a discharge rate of much lower values like 1C and 2C while there are others that have the ability to generate much more power like 3C, 4C and 5C.

In other words batteries like 3C, 4C and 5C have a battery discharge that is much quicker as compared to the 1C and 2C batteries. Therefore this discharge time is highly variable when talking about the time taken.

How you calculate battery discharge?

The battery discharge rate can be calculated simply by noting down the time that has been taken to discharge the battery or to charge the battery completely. This can make a simple process this includes the following method. What you do is take a battery and take the time that is taken to discharge the battery and then divide the amperes that battery was discharging by the time taken.

For example take a battery that is discharging current of 100Ah and theoretically it will take approximately 10 hours to discharge completely. Then you divide 100 by 10 and the value comes up to be 10A. This is the discharge of the battery. This is how we can calculate the battery discharge.

We cannot emphasize battery discharge any more than we have already done. This is important because not only mentioning the battery discharge useful to customers it also helps to get an idea that how long the battery will be running. This is important for reasons now known to you.
