As the law states that the minimum requirement is 4 years so mind this is the minimum limit, not the mandatory stage for battery failure. Of course, there might be expectations when the battery won’t work before 4 years. In that case, you can always contact the seller and claim a battery replacement. If your battery doesn’t supply power to your emergency lighting pack then before concluding that the battery malfunctions, don’t forget to check the fitting and wiring. A loose-fitting can sometimes restrict the working of an emergency lighting pack.
As for the life of these emergency lights concerning output, the code of conduct has some rulings here too. The battery packs are required to offer output for a minimum of 30 minutes and a maximum of 120 minutes.
Emergency Light Battery Pack Replacement
As mentioned above, the law suggests that the minimum life of a battery should be 4 years. So, legally you should change or replace the battery in your emergency lighting pack after four years. Because after 4 years it won't give same output and operate efficiently as per your requirement.
But! If you are still contented with whatever output it is offering, or in some cases if the output is not compromised then you can keep using it. In that case, you can prolong the replacement time but it will be your responsibility to prolong it.
