In this new era of technology and fast communication, we can’t live without a good smartphone and it is equally important to keep its battery safe to use for a longer period of time because most smartphones are expensive and exclusively designed.
The battery is one of the most essential parts of a smartphone, if the battery is not working, nothing can work. With a little bit of care, you can save your battery for a longer period of time. They are actually lithium-ion batteries and are more reliable and long-lasting.
When you buy a new one, it comes with a lot of dos and don’ts. The very first time you will be advised to put your phone on charge for 8 hours and so on. But you cannot allow dying the battery before the first-time charging. As most phone has lithium-based batteries, you cannot allow them to die before putting it in charge, specially first time. Otherwise, you will damage your battery very soon.
Should you fully charge a new phone battery for the first time?
It is important to make sure that the phone has 100% charge before unplugging the phone. All the new phones come with minimum 60% charge and you have to put it on charge to fulfil the charge. Many people have a habit to charge the phone for a few minutes only. Smartphones have lithium-ion batteries that require 3 to 4 hours only to have a full charge. New phones come with turbochargers and with such chargers you can have full charge within 2 hours. People think that you should put your new phone on charge after opening the box but this is not at all mandatory as your battery already has 60% charge, but you need to follow a few guidelines:
as the follow up of your process, you need to read first the manual that comes with your new phone, which is from your manufacturer. You can check out if there any special instruction is there for the specific battery or for first time charging. There is actually no real need of charging it but if there is any instruction for charging it, you should follow it. But for after use, you can keep the phone charge between 20% to 80% to increase its life.
How long should you charge a new phone battery for the first time?
The time of first-time charging may vary for different phones and brands. It depends also on the process you are following. If you want to charge your phone battery just after opening the box, it can take just one hour or with a turbo charger less than that. The reason is, your phone battery comes with a 60% charge already. The time may increase if you use the phone before putting it on charge. But some people allow the phone battery to drain out of charge completely, in that case, the charging time will be more. It can be 4to 4 hours because these lithium-ion phone batteries require 4 hours to be charged fully. Some phones have nickel batteries that take much more time to attain full charge. It requires 6 to 8 hours minimum to get a full charge. But only a few phones have such type of battery and most smartphone comes with lithium-ion batteries and turbo charging system, which takes a very low amount of time to get charged fully.
At what percentage should you start to charge your phone?
Well, there is a special rule. You should charge your battery when the charge is between 30% to 90%. Put this in charge when it is less than 50%, but make sure to unplug it before it reaches 100%. Don’t keep your phone on charge overnight. Too much charging can harm the lithium-ion batteries and it will cut down the life of the battery.
You can put it on charge in the morning when you are doing your office work or just finishing a few house work. In that case, you can keep your eyes on the batteries.
Some of the phones like iOS phones have some shortcut apps where you can set the notification to find out when the battery charge is at a certain percentage. There is “automation” and “battery Level” tabs. Giving full charge every time is not a fatal option but it may shorten the lifespan of your phone. Also, keep in mind that. Avoid allowing the phone battery to get down below 20% always. Going too low than the 20% mark can be harmful to your Lithium-ion batteries. Lithium-ion batteries should charge in the middle, it should not be very high or not very low. Keep these things in mind when buying a new phone, it will expand the lifespan of your phone battery.
Not too much but phone batteries need a certain level of care and maintenance. Over the time, phone batteries also lose their capacity to hold charge for long time. Not any cheap charger but always use the charger recommended by the manufacturer. Also, make sure that your phone has healthy level of charge when using it. Healthy charge cycle is right for your phone battery and its health. Most of the new phones come up with new regulators which are responsible to restrict the current flow as the phone is fully charged. Good care, following the right tips, can help you to avoid the losses that you may have by replacing expensive phone batteries. If you check minutely, you will find that manufacturers provide a specific warranty condition so it is also good idea to keep the very first battery safe and healthy till the end line of its lifespan.
