Car batteries are expensive, and they get corroded or get broken if not cared for carefully, but there are ways to fix them if they get broken. There are multiple ways of bringing car batteries back to life.
Sometimes batteries get corroded due to lack of water in the battery, then the plates inside the battery break, and the battery aren't useable, or the battery doesn't work like it used to work normally.
How to bring a sealed car battery back to life?
Sealed car batteries are mostly rechargeable and require constant charge after they are used. If the charge is ignored or they are not charged properly, they are done and won't work like they used to. A sealed car battery is not that much sealed and can be opened and fixed easily. Sealed batteries are not that intact and can therefore be opened and fixed.
Open the battery.
Sealed batteries can be opened easily, and opening these batteries won't break them. Sealed car batteries have a cover on top, which can be opened through some little force by using a screwdriver. After removing the cover, remove the rubber and plastic caps which you will find on top of the holes.
Fill the liquids.
After removing the caps, you can see inside the battery and see if the battery requires electrolytes or not. There is always a shortage of electrolytes and other fluids in case of a broken battery. Using a pipette or syringe, fill the battery with electrolytes and fluids until all the plates are submerged in the liquid.
Completely charge the battery.
After filling the battery with liquid fluids, charge the battery partially with the caps off, and the place where you are charging the battery should be properly ventilated. Charge it only for an hour now. After charging it for an hour, place the caps with adhesive or super glue. After getting back, to the battery in its normal condition, charge it again and charge it completely this time.
Cycle it 5 times.
After completely charging it, use it until it is depleted and then repeat this process five times. Using this cycle 5 times, your battery will work for some time. It won't work like how it used to before, but it will surely work for some time and give you some time to buy a replacement.
How can you revive a dead car battery with Epsom salt?
Epsom salt is one of the best ingredients to bring a dead battery back to life or revive a dead battery. Epsom salt works in de-sulfonation, and they also replace the electrolyte. Epsom salt is widely used to revive a dead car battery.
Mix Epsom Salt and Distilled Water
Before adding Epsom salt to the battery first, mix it with distilled water. Take only sufficient Epsom salt. Don't add a lot of Epsom salt as it will only worsen the condition of the battery. Take about 4 ounces of Epsom salt and 4 cups of water and mix it. Stir it, so all the Epsom salt is dissolved in the distilled water.
Avoid using too much Epsom salt.
Avoid using too much Epsom salt because using Epsom salt in heavy concentration will induce corrosion in the lead plates, and they also induce corrosion in the connectors.
Add the new electrolyte to the battery.
The electrolyte formed after the mixture of Epsom salt and distilled water. Add that electrolyte to the battery and fill the battery with it until all the plates are submerged in the electrolyte.
Don't overfill the battery with the electrolyte as it will only make the battery weaker. After adding the new electrolyte close the battery and shake it, so the electrolyte reaches every bit of the battery.
Avoid adding undissolved Epsom salt to the battery.
If the Epsom salt and distilled water aren't stirred thoroughly, and some of the Epsom salt is not dissolved, it will make more problems in the battery as Epsom salt isn't dissolved easily. Before you add the new electrolyte, stir it thoroughly so nothing is undissolved.
Charge it
After adding the new electrolyte close the battery and seal it again with adhesive and super glue. Charge it completely and then use it and then charge it again and repeat this cycle five times.
How much driving to recharge a dead battery?
A battery can be charged directly through a connector, and it can be charged by simply driving it around. Charging it from driving is slow, but it works while charging it from the connector directly is quick and more efficient. Charging from driving will depend on the condition of the battery. If the battery is in good condition, then it'll charge quickly.
Healthy Battery Charging Time
It depends on the car battery to know how much driving it will take to recharge it. If the battery is healthy, it'll only require driving for 20-25 minutes on the highway. 20-25 minutes is only an average maybe it'll take more as it also depends on the speed and rpm.
Dead Battery Charging Time
A dead battery takes more time than a healthy battery. A dead battery will almost take about 40-50 minutes of driving on the highway to charge it completely. It may take a lot of time. You never know but the average to charge a dead battery is about 40-50 minutes of driving on the highway.
Reconditioning and refurbishing a battery is better than buying a new one because new batteries cost a fortune, and reconditioning doesn't cost that much it's just a few chemicals and a few remedies. It isn't that hard its just a few steps and you get a battery which will give life back to your battery and revive it back.
Final Remarks:
Sometimes the batteries aren't fixable, and in that situation, you have nothing to do but buy a replacement. Following these easy steps, you can get your battery for some days and get some battery life out of the battery.
