Is there a difference between the 14500 battery and the AA battery?

Dec 19, 2018   Pageview:1087

In fact, there are three batteries with the same size and different performance: AA14500 Ni-MH, 14500 Lithium, and No. 5 dry batteries. The difference is:

1, AA 14500 nickel-metal hydride, rechargeable battery and 14500 lithium rechargeable battery. The 5th battery is a non-rechargeable disposable dry battery.

2. The AA14500 nickel-hydrogen voltage is 1.2 volts and is 1.4 volts after filling. The 14500 lithium battery voltage is 3.7 volts and is 4.2 volts when fully charged. The No. 5 battery is nominally 1.5 volts and the voltage drops to about 1.1 volts.

3, each has its own application occasions, which cannot replace each other.

The size of the 5th battery and the 14500 battery are the same.

14500 means that the battery height is 50mm and the diameter is 14mm.

The No. 5 battery is generally referred to as a disposable battery or a nickel-hydrogen nickel-cadmium battery. The 14500 is generally referred to as a lithium-ion battery.

It is a lithium battery with a diameter of 14mm and a height of 50mm. It is divided into lithium iron phosphate battery and lithium cobalt oxide battery according to the core material. The lithium cobalt oxide battery voltage is 3.7V, and the lithium iron phosphate battery voltage is 3.2V. The voltage can be adjusted to 3.0V by the lithium battery regulator. Since its size is the same as that of the AA5# battery, one 14500 lithium battery and one occupancy barrel can be used instead of two AA batteries. Compared with nickel-metal hydride rechargeable batteries, lithium batteries have the advantages of light weight, less self-discharge, and superior discharge performance. Therefore, they are widely used by digital photographers and electronic cigarettes instead of nickel-metal hydride rechargeable batteries.

Lithium cobaltate

The nominal voltage of lithium cobalt oxide is 3.7V

Lithium iron phosphate

The nominal voltage of lithium iron phosphate is 3.2V, which is more suitable for replacing the 5th battery for digital cameras.

Comparison of advantages and disadvantages

Lithium cobaltate is currently the most widely used cathode material for lithium ion batteries. It has mature technology, stable structure, high specific capacity and outstanding comprehensive performance. The disadvantages are poor safety and high cost. It is mainly used for small and medium-sized batteries.

Lithium iron phosphate is a new cathode material for lithium-ion batteries. It has good safety, no explosion, good cycle performance (up to 2000 times), but its energy density is much lower than that of lithium cobaltate and ternary materials. It is more suitable for electric vehicles, power tools and other fields.

The answer you used is not complete.

There are two types of 14500 lithium batteries, one is 3.2V lithium iron phosphate, and the other is a 3.7V ordinary lithium battery.

So whether it can be universal, it depends on whether your appliance uses 1 No. 5 battery or two sections.

If it is a battery appliance, it cannot be used with the 14500 lithium battery under any circumstances.

In the case of a two-cell battery, a 3.2V 14500 lithium iron phosphate battery can be fully versatile when paired with a one-part barrel (fake battery). The 3.7V 14500 lithium iron phosphate battery is likely to be universal, but the match is not optimal.

Cannot be universal, the same size.

Because the 14500 lithium battery voltage is 3.7V, the ordinary 5th is 1.5V, the voltage is different.

Switching to lithium battery, the use of electrical appliances may be burned and cause danger.
