What concentration is battery acid?

A car battery can contain 30-50% diluted sulfuric acid (H2SO4).  The mole fraction of the battery acid is usually 29-32%. In addition, this concentration comes in a density of 1.25 to 1.28kg/l and a five mol/L concentration.

What can you use instead of battery acid?

People choose acid batteries because of their affordability and efficiency. But this does not mean you cannot use other types of batteries. Besides, they are safer compared to battery acid. The only problem is that they are expensive options and are not equally efficient. The main competitors of the lad acid battery include lithium-ion and nickel-cadmium.

But can you substitute the acid for something else? You cannot replace the battery acid with any other substance rather than water. Substituting with anything else but water can damage the battery. baking soda can be used to clean the plates, but it will neutralize the acid if added inside.

Water is added only if you want to rise above the plates. However, the water should only be added when the battery has changed completely. Topping the electrolyte is one of the best ways to prolong the lead-acid battery life. Allowing the battery to drain too much or leaving it empty can cause irreplaceable harm.
