Lead Acid Car Battery_ Charging Voltage, Charger and Price

May 24, 2021   Pageview:753

The CCCV charged method is used in the lead Acid battery. which is also known as constant current constant voltage. The terminal voltage of the battery is increased by the regulated current this process keeps going until the upper charge voltage limit is gained. Otherwise, if this voltage limit is not gained the process will not stop until the process fully happened and the required upper charge voltage is acquired. The point is how will we come to know that we get the upper charge voltage. The answer to this question is very simple when the current drops due to saturation we will come to know that we have acquired the upper charge voltage. The charge te for different batteries is different. The smaller batteries charge sooner than the large batteries. It takes about 12 to 16 hours to charge the caller batteries but to charge the larger batteries it will take much time e.g 36 to 48 hours to charge stationary batteries. But we can reduce the timing of charge of these charging batteries. The first method through which we will charge fast is the high charge current method and the second method through which we can quickly charge these lead batteries is the multi-stage charge method. Both methods are adopted to charge the batteries fast and in the required time. You can reduce the charging time to 8 to 12 hours if you adopt these charging methods. Lead Acid charge slowly as compared to the other battery systems

Lead Acid Car Battery Charging Voltage

The Lead-Acid battery is not charged in 1 stage but it requires 3 stages to complete its charging with the CCCV method. The 1st stage is the constant current charge, the 2nd stage is toping charge and the 3rd stage is the float charge. In the constant current charge bulk of the charge is applied which takes about half of the whole charge time in which the battery has to be charged. The saturation is provided by the toping charge and it continues at the lower charge current. And at the end, the compensation is done by the float charge for all the loss that is done by the self-discharge.

About 70 percent of the charging in the battery is done during the constant current charge. Which takes about 7 to 8 hours to do. The next charging stage gets slower and it also took the same time of about 7 hours to complete the next 30 percent of charge. This 30 percent of the charge is done by a slower toping charge. This is very important to have a toping charge because if it does not happen the battery's health could be damaged badly to maintain the good health of the battery it's very important to have a slower toping charge. In other words, if I explain the importance of it is that little rest is needed after having a good meal. Due to the fact or of sulfation the performance of the battery could be reduced or damaged that's why this process of slower topping charge is also important. The maintenance of the battery at full charge is done by the float charge in the 3rd stage.

The method through which we can find that rather the battery is fully charged or not is that just check the current drop to a set low level. If it happens then you can say that the battery is fully charged now. The float voltage will reduce and the compensation of the self-discharge will be done by the float charge.

Lead Acid Car Battery Charger

In cars, the lead battery is auto charged whenever the car is started. And it is used for various purposes in the car. But you can also charge the lead Acid car battery if it comes out of charging. Its charging method is very simple and easy. You just need a power supply with the adjustable voltage and current limiting. You should know the basics of charging before charging the lead batteries. If you want to charge the batteries manually then according to me always try to charge lead and lithium-based batteries manually because you can charge them easier than other batteries.

The charge voltage should be calculated properly according to the number of cells that are joined in series. This should be done just before connecting the battery. now you have the option of selecting the voltage or current that you want for the charging. The lead battery with 6 cells is a 12 volts lead acid battery to a voltage limit of 2.40 V. Now select the voltage to 14.40 V for it. The charge current varies according to the size of the battery. if the battery has a big size then the charge current will be more than the small size battery. It's about 10 to 30 percent of the rated capacity for the Lead-Acid battery. It takes about 3A for the 10 AH battery of we do it with 30 percent charges. And on the other hand, the starter battery of 80 AH may charge at 8A. You also should know about the charge rate if we  10 percent charge rate it means the battery is charging at the rate of 0.1 C.
