Wet Cell Batteries

Wet cell batteries are also known as flooded batteries. They are lead-acid cells made explicitly for vehicles. This is probably the battery inside your car right now.

It is the fast rechargeable battery ever created. It contains a liquid electrolyte. Some may require maintenance by changing the water in the diluted acid. Modern wet cell batteries come with a semi-solid electrolyte.

These batteries come in two variations:

SLI. Starting, Lighting, and Ignition (SLI) batteries are specifically designed for starting your car. They use quick, short bursts of energy to power the motor.

Deep cycle. This type is also known as a marine battery. They last longer than the SLI type and are used for extended energy delivery.

VRLA Battery

Valve-regulated lead-acid cells are sealed batteries without any ventilation. They are sued in small spaces where ventilation is not possible. They are easy to store because they are sealed.

VRLAs come in two types too:

Gel Cell batteries: These batteries do not contain a liquid electrolyte. Instead, it features a jellified electrolyte. They are tough and very resistant to hot temperatures.

Absorbed Glass Mat batteries: The electrolyte is held inside glass mats instead of free-flooding the plates. The mats are made from thin fibers, meshed together into an electrolyte-absorbed glass mat.

Car Battery Sizes

Car batteries come in group sizes, which show the actual physical size of the battery. This information also includes the polarity of the battery. Vehicle manufacturers consider this when designing solutions for different types of vehicles.

Side-post Batteries

These are specific group sizes for certain vehicles. They are common in General Moto vehicles. The batteries feature cable ends that screw into the battery’s side. The batteries are sizes 41, 42, 47, 48, and 49.

Standard Top Post Batteries

This is the most common battery size group. You will find them in Japanese vehicles, most imports, and American-made vehicles. You need to find the most appropriate size to keep it secure in your car.

For instance, you will find a specific group with the width and length as another group but is different in height. If you choose a taller battery for your care, it will not fit in the battery trail properly. If it’s too tall, it can even touch the car’s hood, causing a spark that will set your car on fire.??
