The TP4056 is a complete single-cell Li-Ion battery with a constant current/constant voltage linear charger. The SOP8 package with heat sink on the bottom and a small number of external components make the TP4056 ideal for portable applications. The TP4056 is suitable for USB power and adapter power supplies.
TP4056 features
Programmable charge current up to 1000mA eliminates the need for MOSFET, sense resistors or isolation diodes for single-cell Li-Ion batteries, complete linear charger constant current/constant voltage operation in SOP package, and with no risk of overheating thermal regulation with maximum charge rate.
4.2V preset charging voltage with ±1.5% accuracy
Charge current monitor output for battery charge detection
Automatic recharge
Charge status dual output, no battery and fault status display
C/10 charge termination
Supply current in standby mode is 55uA
2.9V trickle charge device version soft start limits inrush current
Battery temperature monitoring is available in an 8-pin SOP-PP package.
TEMP: Battery temperature detection input Battery temperature detection input Battery temperature detection input. Connect the TEMP pin to the output of the battery's NTC sensor. If the voltage of the TEMP pin is less than 45% of the input voltage or greater than 80% of the input voltage, meaning that the battery temperature is too low or too high, charging is suspended.
If TEMP is directly connected to GND, the battery temperature detection function is canceled, and other charging functions are normal.
PROG: Constant current charging current setting and charging current monitoring terminal current monitoring terminal. The charging current can be programmed by connecting an external resistor from the PROG pin to ground. During the precharge phase, the voltage at this pin is modulated at 0.1V; during the constant current charging phase, the voltage at this pin is fixed at 1V. In all modes of charge state, the voltage of this pin can be measured according to the following formula:
GND: Power ground.
VCC: Input voltage positive input voltage positive input. . The voltage at this pin is the operating power of the internal circuit. When the voltage difference between the VCC and BAT pins is less than 30mV, the TP4056 will enter a low-power shutdown mode where the current at the BAT pin is less than 2uA.
BAT: Battery connection Battery connection Battery connection. Connect the positive end of the battery to this pin. When the chip is disabled or in sleep mode, the leakage current of the BAT pin is less than 2uA. The BAT pin provides a charge current and a 4.2V limit voltage to the battery. Pulled low by the internal switch, indicating that charging is complete.
The charging status indicating end of drain open circuit output indicates end. When the charger charges the battery, the pin is in a high resistance state.
The CE chip is capable of inputting the chip's initial input. A high input level will put the TP4056 in normal operation; a low input level will cause the TP4056 to be disabled. The CE pin can be driven by TTL level or CMOS level.
