Linglierte, a supplier of a wide range of standard high-performance integrated circuit product lines, has launched a battery management system called the LTC4156, which offers consumers a new reference space for a high-charging lithium iron phosphate battery charger.

 

The LTC4156 is a power management system that includes an I2C(two-wire port) power path manager, a diode controller, and a lithium iron phosphate battery charger. The first two components are all set up for the charger application. The charger has two distinctive features:

 

1, dual input source: The LTC4156 switching power supply path topology can seamlessly manage the charging process from two input sources(such as adapters and USB interfaces) to lithium iron phosphate batteries used by the device. In order to ensure the immediate operation of the equipment, the system load(equipment) should be charged in priority when the input power is lower.

 

2, high power: The I2C structure can efficiently transmit up to 15W of power from various power sources, while minimizing power consumption, reducing the generation of heat and excessive power consumption in order to control heat. Due to power savings, the charger device can provide more current than the input current when charging the device, thereby maximizing the use of available power to charge the lithium battery. For example, when charging a device with a 5V/2A power adapter, it can provide up to 2.4 A of charging current and achieve rapid charging.

 

The charger also provides the following features:

 

1, immediate work. Even when the battery has been deeply discharged, the LTC can still ensure that it can work as soon as the power is turned on. At the same time, the charger supports the USB OTG function, so it can provide a 5V power supply to the USB port without additional components.

 

2, adjust parameters. Through the I2C port, many system control parameters can be adjusted, mainly the current and voltage of the input and output. The voltage settings can be divided into four categories: 3.45 V, 3.55 V, 3.60 V, and 3.80 V.

 

3, provide status information. These states include: lithium battery operating temperature, input power supply, lithium battery charger and failure state.

 

4, high current charging. The lithium iron phosphate battery charger can provide 3.5 A charging current and 15 current settings.

 

5, self-adjustment. With automatic recharging, failure battery detection, thermistor suitable temperature charging, programmable charging end indication / termination, programmable interrupt occurrence and other self-detection and adjustment functions.

 

6, overpressure protection. Two-way input and priority multi-way use overvoltage protection circuit to avoid any damage caused by accidental high voltage.

 

7, the working environment temperature is wide. It can work within the range of -40 °C ~ 125 °C.
