Statistics from the power battery application branch of the China chemical and physical power industry association show that in 2017, the power battery market was affected to some extent by factors such as the decline of subsidies for new energy vehicles and the review of the vehicle model announcement catalogue, but still achieved a relatively high growth in general. Last year, China's new energy vehicles loaded with power cells reached 37.06GWh, up 21.5% year on year.
From the perspective of enterprises, the domestic power battery market is highly concentrated and has formed three echelon groups.
Among them, Ningde times has surpassed BYD to become the leader of domestic power battery industry. BYD is transforming from self-sufficiency mode to supply to other complete vehicle enterprises. The above two enterprises constitute the "first echelon" of the industry.
The "second echelon" consists of two enterprises, watma and Guoxuan high-tech co., LTD., which are important participants in the industry.
The "third echelon" consists of a group of enterprises such as biko and Lishen, which face the pressure of survival of the fittest in the fierce competition of the industry.

Ningde era
Installed capacity: 10.57GWh

In 2017, Ningde times surpassed BYD, once the "leader" of the power battery industry, and jumped to the top of the list of total installed capacity. In addition, it beat Panasonic to become the global sales champion of power battery system and became one of the most internationally competitive power battery manufacturers in China.
Last year, Ningde times successively set up branches in France, the United States, Canada and Japan, and cooperated with saic in joint venture, further expanding the industrial scale. At present, the main business of Ningde era includes power battery system, energy storage system and lithium battery material recycling. Among them, the power battery system includes battery cells, modules and battery packs. The products are mainly square batteries, and the application fields cover electric passenger cars, electric buses, electric logistics vehicles and other models. At present, the unit specific energy of Ningde times power battery can reach more than 270Wh/kg, and it will strive to achieve 350Wh/kg in 2020. Meanwhile, solid-state battery technology is also under development.
In the 2017 China unicorn enterprise development report, the valuation of ningde times ranks the sixth.

BYD

BYD, which started as a battery company, has always adopted its own development mode of self-production and self-use, as it has established its own business segments of electric passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles. BYD, which has been number one in the power battery industry, was overtaken by ningde last year, as early as the first quarter. In the second half of the year, Ningde era and BYD further opened the distance.
The self-sufficient, closed-door model is seen as detrimental to byd's long-term development, especially as the company appears to face greater challenges after the ningde era forged close partnerships with domestic and foreign auto companies. Last year, byd began mulling a spin-off of its battery business, and other parts, vehicle-mounted software, molds and other divisions are likely to operate independently in the future.
However, in the context of the high price of raw materials for power batteries, byd has laid out the raw materials market in advance with prominent price advantages, so its power batteries still have obvious advantages. Founded in 2002, Watma is one of the first high-tech enterprises in China to develop power batteries and implement mass application. Its products are at the leading level in terms of fast charging, low temperature, grouping and safety monitoring technology. Different from the cooperation between Ningde times and large car companies and BYD's self-sufficiency, Watma chose to expand the "circle of friends" in the form of industrial innovation alliance. By the end of 2017, more than 80,000 new energy vehicles equipped with Watma power battery system have been running in 34 provinces and cities in China, and their products have been sold to more than 40 countries and regions.

Biker is not only a supplier of consumer electronics products such as Zte, HP, Lenovo and Samsung, but also has close relations with complete automobile enterprises such as Volkswagen, faw, BMW and Chery. In 2017, the total number of Bick battery supporting devices was 34,400, of which the largest number of Jiangnan automobile supporting devices was 20,000. Mr. Bick also signed orders last year with new car makers such as Yundu and singularities.
At present, BIK battery mass production of cylindrical lithium ternary battery energy density of 220Wh/kg. In 2016, the total production capacity of BIK battery bases in Shenzhen and Zhengzhou was 2.5GWh, and the planned value in 2017 was 8GWh. Bick battery is also expanding its capacity, with a total capacity of 15GWh expected by 2020 and a market share of more than 12%.
As an aggressive expander of ternary battery capacity, Bick's prospects are promising. In February, Jiangsu Zhongli Group Co., ltd. announced that it would buy a stake in Shenzhen biker power battery Co., ltd. for about 10 billion yuan.

In October last year, Lishen became the sole supplier of power battery for ejeter BBG project, a new energy joint venture between Dongfeng motor and renault-nissan, which was the first new energy joint venture in China to announce its supplier to the outside world. In addition, Lishen's other big move last year was to start production of the 4GWh21700 power battery project with a total investment of 2.1 billion yuan and an annual output of 4GWh21700, and launch the first customized production line of the product in China. Nanjing Jinlong bus manufacturing co., ltd. and Beiqi (Changzhou) automobile co., ltd. produce two pure electric van transport vehicles, the future will be equipped with this three-yuan lithium ion battery, which means that 21700 batteries in China officially put into use.
As an early established battery enterprise in the industry, Lishen has the capacity of 10GWh lithium ion battery, and has formed the first echelon of power battery together with BYD, Ningde times and other enterprises.
