One should leave the batteries as they had bought them since the manufacturers pack them carefully, separating the terminals and leaving the batteries apart. That ensures they do not cause any short circuit.
The second method you can pack your lithium batteries is by covering the battery terminals with the use of tape. This will ensure that no current is passed through the batteries that may cause overheating or sparks, or short-circuits.
Battery cases can also be used, and this will prevent the batteries from coming into contact with any metal. The use of a plastic bag for each battery or a protective pouch can also serve as a method of packaging. A battery sleeve in a camera bag can also be used to ensure the batteries are not in contact with each other or any metal.
The last thing you should do while packaging your lithium batteries is to ensure they are not damaged, crushed, or punctured. Also, avoid putting too much pressure on the batteries since that may cause overheat and an internal short circuit.
It is imperative to know that some airlines may restrict any type of lithium batteries, so ensure you always check the guidelines of the airline before going to the airport. Packing your lithium batteries as instructed ensures your safety in the air and decreases the chances of fire burning up the plane.
