When it comes to the advancement of batteries, lithium polymer is among the best. Many vendors use these kinds of batteries because they are powerful and can last long at the same time. Furthermore, they are suitable for any type of phone because they are made of plastic rather than metal.
Lithium polymer batteries can be used on smartphones with a thickness of 5-10 mm. These batteries are the strongest compared to other types that are used in cell phones. But you have to be careful since they can cause an explosion if not manufactured properly. Of course, they offer more battery life compared to the rest of the batteries since they do not suffer from the memory effect.
Nickel Cadmium
These are one of the cells that suffer from memory loss. The memory effect is not a good thing to batteries because it leads to reduced capacity as well as lifespan. However, such an effect can be avoided by discharging the battery fully before recharging it again. This is not what people like because it’s very irritating.
Some cells for nickel-cadmium can be harmful to your health because they contain some toxic materials. This is part of the reasons why most manufacturers stopped manufacturing such batteries.
Nickel Metal Hydride
This is somehow an upgrade to the cadmium battery, even though it's the same size. The upgrade here is in terms of the capacity and lifespan. In addition, Nickel-metal hydride batteries are not as harmful as the nickel-cadmium.
Cell phone batteries usually last for a few days. The low-end cell phones have low capacity batteries that range between 1000 mAh to 2000 mAh. This capacity is enough to run such cell phones for several days. Low-end phones do not consume a lot of power because they have fewer features.
High-end devices, on the other hand, have high capacities from 3,000 mAh – 5000 mAh. Such Smartphones do not hold power for so long despite having such huge capacity. This is because they come with so many advanced features that drain the batteries faster.
But overall the modern batteries have a greater performance. People can now play games or watch movies in 4k for hours, thanks to the great battery performance. Another notable thing is that almost all the latest flagships feature fast charging modes.

Phones are more advanced in all aspects nowadays. The batteries are more powerful and perform better than the previous generations. This has allowed the cell phone industry to bring in more innovations to life. Now everyone is holding a supercomputer in their hands that can do much more than just calling, texting, and browsing the internet. Lithium technology is the most applied in phones today because of its efficiency and holding more capacity.
